i kinda remember when Samm thought she knew a lot about rats, like how they had a “wild gene” or something and how to tell when a rat was ill.

half her info was pretty horrid and false, the other half seemed to be scrounged up from google.

i hope her rats were…

I understand that aggressiveness can be passed down, but as you said it can be pulled out of the biting habits|antinsocial behavior they can have. It might take a while, but it can be done. But from what I remember, Hina was saying you couldn’t. So she gave the rat back to the store, telling them it was too aggressive. I have a friend who adopted a rat from a small research centre, who was never handled much and when he was handled it would normally be by the scruff or really briefly. He wouldn’t let her touch him at first, she would get nipped sometimes (even drew blood) but after a few months, he now adores to be cuddled. And he doesn’t like her to be away for too long. The only time he will bite, is when you’re feeding him and it’s mostly by accident. Once he realizes he bit you, he will lick where he bit and take the food with his paws instead. I still reckon her information about rats were pretty bad, having them in a tank, breeding them even though she had no space, etc. And then telling everyone her facts were 100% correct. And most of it was from Google or a “Your first Rat” guide. I’m not a big fan of Hina, I like her art. But when everything about her rats just suddenly stopped, I got a bit worried and asked about if anyone knew what happened. All the answers were “they died.” With the amount of animals she’s had, I hope she slows down a little! I used to have mice, loads of them. But once they all passed away and the babies my family bred were given away, we waited for another 4 years before getting another two girls, and we didn’t breed that time. I only hope she does slow down though, maybe finish some comissions or keep away from the internet for a bit? or do both! like get her life in order first and then come back as a new Hina. (sorry for the bad text post reply. my phone doesn’t agree with me.)

Yes, I did say they can be pulled out of aggressive behavior. It is not a given, and I personally would only attempt to if the rat was mildly aggressive and did tiny nips rather than full on bites.

There are too many risks will full-on rat bites. Recently my friend had to go to the doctor because of rat-bite fever. Everyone told her she would be fine but when the pain didn’t go away, she went for a check up.

My friend’s friend, a rat breeder, was trying to tame an aggressive rat. She got badly bitten, and was told she was fine. Months later when the wound had healed, there was still pain. She went to the doctor and a tooth fragment had broken off. She was offered either surgery or removal of her finger. She chose surgery and was left with a giant scar across her hand.

Your friend’s rat, though occasionally drawing blood, sounds like a minor biter. We don’t know how Samm’s was, if it was a nipper or a latch-on biter.

Tanks for keeping rats are actually okay. Personally I wouldn’t use them and rather my rats have big spaces to run around, but rats do fine in tanks and tubs and they are used a lot in large breeding programs here.

Samm has no idea whatsoever and I am disgusted she bred rats with such little information. Worse, she grabbed random rats from a pet shop and I have a feeling she wasn’t breeding for health or temperament. If you want to breed an animal, you should talk to an actual breeder and discuss it with them- not read crappy google websites.

Oh yes I am also disgusted that her rats suddenly all died. Poor little things deserved a much better life than living with her.

Samm has often claimed that she has changed. I wont believe her till she closes her commissions, finishes her current commissions, gets off the internet and stops adopting animals that she cant even look after.

By the way thanks for a calm reply normally Australians get blasted for saying most of us don’t work with aggressive rats (and also saying that aggression is genetic too).

it’s all good, I’m glad you gave me a calm reply too. But if it helps, I’m Australian as well, so I know where you’re coming from.

I think it would be amazing if she finishes comissions or if she can’t be bothered, send out refunds before closing up shop for a while. Maybe start over with DA coins/points?

I think it would be best for her to give up a few animals right now, even letting a friend hold onto them. Until she gets everything sorted out. But that’s just me.

Their backyard. "Taxidermy" or not does not make a valid excuse for unnecessary and excruciating euthanization.

I know, I was a bit
upset when that anon sent that ask. I may have overreacted a bit, i apologise.

But I agree, even if she did (not gonna say she did.) it wouldn’t be a valid or appealing excuse.

What do you mean taxidermy? She killed them because she didn't want them anymore and too lazy to be proactive about rehoming in the very least. She also has the bodies of the mice they got(she even admitted it when I was there) and killed a rabbit in

If I didn’t live in Australia, I would have offered to go to her house and take them off her hands. Heck I would have payed her double to let her give them to me.

Edit: had to reread this:
she killed a rabbit and is keeping her mouse bodies hostage if im
reading this right. (feel
free to correct me if I read it wrong again)

and by taxidermy, I don’t really mean anything. it was the first thing that jumped into my mind when I read that anon.

she should really, really not take in animals if she’s going to get bored with them after a few months.

taxerdirmy does not
mean you kill your own pets to get pelts.

she probably didn’t do that, but im just kinda sad now.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW ODIN IS JUST GONE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE LIKE WTF LOKI WHERE DID YOU PUT HIM

;_;

Wherever Loki put his father, it was the right place!

Can we talk about how his birthright was to die? I mean, he would have died if it wasn’t for Odin taking him. He’s a runt. He would have died guys. He’s not a full size giant, he’s a runt. He would have died if it wasn’t for Odin. Or are we forgetting that? Because really, Odin’s not the worst fucking dad in the damn universe. He loved Loki as a son. He LOVED him. Don’t even say he was a bad father.

And let’s not forget, Loki betrayed Odin, and attacked Midgard as King of Asgard. You realise we would have gone to WAR with them, right? Oh and right, then he attacks Midgard  AGAIN.

Loki isn’t some innocent little guy. He’s always been a dick, and a prick. He’s not the god of innocence, mistreatment and parental abuse. He’s the god of damn mischief. The cause of the end of the nine realms and his child kills Odin. And do NOT give me “it’s because of his past.” Your past does not excuse your future actions. And don’t forget, he was treated like a Prince, not some slave like he would have been if he was in Svartalfheim. so. Shut the hell up about Allfather being a fucking bad father.

Woah, there.

Odin has made some monumentally shitty parenting decisions.  And I am not saying this because I am a Loki roleplayer—Odin was a bad parent. He did not take in Loki because he wanted to raise him as his son. He saw the child, a son of Laufey, and saw a potential tool for diplomacy. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT HE DID NOT GROW TO LOVE LOKI AS A SON—but he said, quote, “I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance, bring about permanent peace… through you.” The war with Jotunheim had just been won. There were probably numerous orphans, numerous displaced children. I can almost guarantee that Loki was not the first child that Odin came across that had been left to die.
